Have you experienced a moment when you tools RAM requirement grow beyond that your machine you perceived to be the best machine for DEV? I am here right now, and it is frustrating me how my PC gets heated up so fast, cooling fan runs like hell, and still I have to reboot nearly every 12 hours because at this point, I can't be productive with the state of the machine.
I've experienced this alot lately even with a PC of 8GB
I think developers need like 64GB RAM
Install a linux distro . . with 8GB of ram, you'd get an additional 4GB swapi .e. 12 GB which is more than enough except for heavy video editing. My iMac (core i7) has 12GB ram + 6 gb swap = 18gb; while the macbook (core i5) is just 4gb + 2 gb = 6gb and i've never complained for once.
I use ubuntu
Then increase your swap. Or get a pc with a faster processor (processor plays a role too)
