I used a CMS for the website, drupal cms from drupal.org. However, I had to do a whole lot of coding like coding the theme from the scratch, writing the codes for all those authorization modules - facebook login, twitter e.t.c and also had to fix a lot of plugins (or modules), and also write quite a lot of plugins.
It is not that I cannot code it from the scratch, but you see that will take me a whole lot of time, so I prefer something to jump-start.
Today makes it 2 weeks+1 day that this new build started, and it has been lots of work too.

I appreciate everyone that has been contributing to this work, reviews, codes, security e.t.c and it makes me proud of my fellow developers.

Laravel yes, is the recommended framework if you wish to do something like this. But if you will use a CMS, there are options (but I will strongly advise not to use wordpress).
Guys can bear me witness, assuming that this site is a typical CMS website, the loading speed will be very terrible. All those authentications will likely be third party, the share will rely on external links reducing site load speed.
Aside of google analytics, there is no third party service anywhere on this site calling anything to work. Everything is self-contained and that is why I have good control over everything. This box we use to type comment for example, was generated by the statuses plugin, but the formatting controls B, I above were coded by me.

Drupal is not a typical CMS, it is both a CMS and a framework - as a matter of fact, wikipedia refers to it as a Content Management Framework.

Laravel is easier to use than drupal, drupal hard gan o, that is why you dont find drupal developers anyhow, they are very scarce.
