Our story
A calling that did not disappear
Africoders was not built from a business plan. It grew out of one person quietly choosing, for years, between the life that was expected of them and the one that kept pulling at them the loudest.
The founder was academically gifted and became a medical doctor, following a path that made every family proud. But the strongest pull was always somewhere else — toward computers, code, and the quiet logic of building something from nothing.
There was no bootcamp, mentor or roadmap waiting. Just self-directed learning late at night, scattered tutorials, false starts, and years of difficult, unglamorous practice — done alone, without a complete support system, because the calling refused to be ignored.
That persistence eventually produced a highly capable software engineer. But it also produced a harder truth: the obstacle was never talent. It was the absence of direction, community and someone willing to say "you are on the right track."
Africoders began as a developer community — a place for people writing software to find peers, practise in public, and not have to make that climb alone.
