Choosing your persona

2 min read · 4 views

Pick the stage that matches you so home, Aurora, and recommendations personalize.

What a persona is

A persona describes where you are on the builder journey — not a permanent job title.

Common personas include:

  • Secondary school student
  • University student
  • Self-taught builder
  • Professional developer (and related roles)
  • Recruiter / company
  • Founder
  • Mentor

Why it matters

Persona onboarding personalizes:

  • Home modules you see first
  • Aurora Career Coach suggestions
  • Recommended challenges, scholarships, and opportunities

It does not publicly expose private member feeds, and it does not replace recruiter access rules that still use capability gates.

How to choose

Pick the stage that best matches your current week, not your five-year ambition.

If you are… Choose…
In secondary school exploring tech Secondary school student
At university / polytechnic University student
Learning outside formal school Self-taught builder
Shipping professionally Professional developer (or designer / PM)
Hiring talent Recruiter or company
Building a startup Founder
Helping others grow Mentor

Changing later

You can update your persona from journey settings when your stage changes — for example after graduation or when you start hiring. Re-run a quick pass on profile skills and open-to preferences so recommendations stay honest.

Tip

If two personas feel true (student + freelancer), choose the one that matches how you will use Africoders this month. You can still navigate other surfaces manually.
