30 days of committing code even on bad days

Some of these commits are genuinely five lines of renamed variables because that was all the energy I had that day, and I almost didn't count them as real progress. Looking back at the full month though, the small days added up to two features I wouldn't have finished otherwise. Consistency mattered more than intensity this time.

Question 2 days ago

Does a finished profile actually change anything before you apply

I spent last weekend rewriting my profile properly instead of applying to three more roles with the half-done version I had. No projects linked, a headline that said nothing useful, that kind of thing. Before I go back to applying, has anyone here noticed a real difference in responses once their profile actually reflected what they can do?

Question 3 days ago

When should useEffect actually run twice

In development my useEffect fires twice on mount, and I spent an embarrassing amount of time thinking I had a bug before realising StrictMode does that on purpose. Is this only a development thing, or should my effect be written so it survives running twice regardless?

Project update 4 days ago

A small admin dashboard I built to practice data tables

Nothing groundbreaking, just a table with sorting, filtering, and pagination hooked up to a fake API, but I wanted to get comfortable with the patterns before I need them at work. Spent more time than expected getting sort and filter to play nicely together without weird state bugs. Screenshot in the thread if anyone wants to see it.

My LinkedIn headline says nothing about me

It currently just says 'Software Developer', which is technically true and completely forgettable. I don't want to overclaim things I haven't done yet, but I also want it to say something real about what I actually work on. How specific is too specific for a headline at a junior level?

I stopped updating my CV and just kept my profile current instead

Used to spend an evening every few months reformatting a static document that nobody actually reads closely. Now I just keep my profile here honest and current, latest project, what I'm learning, what I'd want to work on next, and point people there when they ask. It's a small shift but it changed how I think about my own work, less like a list of past achievements and more like something alive I'm responsible for keeping true.
