SLATE Nigeria is a purpose-built educational platform engineered to solve the core challenges of Nigerian basic education: erratic internet connectivity, low-spec mobile devices, parent engagement barriers, and curriculum tracking.

## Problem Statement Across Africa, millions of children face barriers to consistent, quality basic education due to unreliable internet connectivity, limited access to digital learning resources, low-spec devices, and gaps in parental and teacher engagement. While digital education is expanding across the continent, many existing solutions assume reliable internet access, modern devices, and education systems that may not reflect local curricula, languages, classroom structures, and assessment practices. This creates a digital divide where the children who could benefit most from technology can struggle to access and consistently use it. Teachers also face challenges managing lessons, assignments, attendance, assessments, and student progress, while parents often have limited visibility into their children's learning outside the classroom. These challenges are further compounded by the diversity of African education systems and the need for locally relevant learning experiences. SLATE addresses this challenge by creating an education platform designed around the realities of African learners and schools—starting with Nigeria. By combining offline-first learning, curriculum-aligned content, multilingual support, classroom tools, assessment management, and parent engagement, SLATE aims to make digital education more accessible, practical, and relevant for African children regardless of their connectivity or device limitations.
