Title: Stop Commenting “Nice Work.” Use This 3-Line Feedback Template Instead.
It’s showcase week, so the feed is about to fill with finished projects. Most replies will say “nice” or “great job.” That’s kind, but the builder learns nothing from it.
Copy this template and fill it in:
Worked:
Stuck:
Try next: ___
Example
Weak: “Nice app.”
Strong:
Worked: The signup took me ten seconds.
Stuck: I couldn’t find the logout button.
Try next: Put logout in the top menu.
Why it works:
Specific beats general. “Ten seconds” tells the builder something real.
One moment of confusion is worth more than a page of praise.
One next step is something they can finish this week. A list of five just overwhelms them.
Two habits keep it respectful: comment on the work, not the person, and say what you would try, not what is “wrong.”
Giving feedback is also the fastest way to sharpen your own eye. Leave one comment with this template on a project today.
What’s the most useful feedback you’ve ever received on something you built?.........
