The One-Sentence Test: Do This Before You Write Any Code
Most projects don’t fail because of bad code. They fail because the builder can’t explain the problem in one sentence.
Try this template:
[Who] struggles with [problem] when [situation].
My app helps by [one clear action].
Example:
Students struggle with checking results when the school portal is slow or down.
My app helps by showing results instantly on any phone.
Why it works:
If you can’t fill it in, the idea isn’t clear yet.
If it needs two sentences, you’re building two apps.
If the “who” is “everybody,” nobody is your user.
Run it before you open your code editor. It can save you weeks of building the wrong thing.
Now it’s your turn: drop your one-sentence version of the project you’re working on below. Let’s help each other sharpen them. 👇
