Title: Stuck on an Error? Follow This 6-Step Routine Before You Ask for Help
Every builder gets stuck. The ones who improve fastest follow a routine instead of guessing. Try this:
1. Read the whole error message.
Find the file name and line number in it. That’s where to start looking.
2. Reproduce it.
Find the exact action that triggers the error. If you can’t repeat it, you can’t fix it.
3. Shrink it.
Remove code until only the smallest piece still fails. The bug often shows itself during this step.
4. Check your last change.
What did you change just before it broke? Undo it to confirm.
5. Look at the real values.
Use console.log (or print) at the point of failure to see what your variables actually hold, instead of assuming.
6. Search and ask well.
Search the exact error text without your file names. If you still need help, include four things: what you expected, what happened, the error message, and the smallest code that fails.
A weak question: “My code isn’t working.”
A strong question: “I expected the form to submit. I get ‘Cannot read properties of undefined’ on line 24. Here is a 10-line version that fails.”
A clear question gets a faster, better answer, and helps the next person who has the same error.
