Project Note: Computerized Criminal Investigating System (EFCC)
Live link: https://efcc-ccis.netlify.app
Version: v1.0, Dept. of Computer Engineering Technology
Why I built it
I wanted to show how technology can support Nigeria’s anti-corruption and law enforcement work. I started with a desktop version for the EFCC Ibadan Zonal Command, then rebuilt it as a web system so anyone can open it from a link, with no installation. I also built it for my demo day, to show a real, practical idea instead of just talking about one.
The problem
Case files, suspect details and evidence are often kept on paper or in scattered files, which makes them slow to find and easy to lose.
Tracking the progress of an investigation across different officers and commands is hard.
Sensitive information needs proper access control, so only authorised officers can see it.
Writing reports by hand takes a lot of time.
The solution
A secure, login-protected system where each officer signs in with their state command, username and password. It brings the main parts of an investigation into one place:
Case registration
Suspect profiling
Evidence management
Investigation tracking
Report generation
User management, with different roles (officer, supervisor, admin)
What I learned
How to turn a desktop application into a hosted web application and deploy it on Netlify.
How to design a secure login flow, with role-based access and a state-command selector.
Why a system like this must be built around data security and privacy.
How to design for a specific audience: a serious, professional look and clear navigation for officers.
How to present an idea at a demo day and improve it based on feed
