I used to think that if a design looked beautiful, then I had done a good job as a UI/UX designer but I was wrong.

When I first started UI/UX design, I was so focused on creating beautiful interfaces that I barely considered the user experience. I wanted my designs to look attractive, with the right colours, clean layouts, and impressive visuals. I thought that was what made a design good. Over time, I began to realise that there was more to design than what the eyes could see. I wasn't asking enough questions about the people who would actually use the products I was designing. Would they understand how to navigate the interface? Could they accomplish their goals easily? Was the product genuinely solving their problems? That was when my understanding of UI/UX design began to change. I realised that a product isn't designed just to look good; it is designed to serve a purpose and help people solve problems. If users struggle to achieve that purpose, a beautiful interface alone isn't enough. Of course, visual appeal matters, but it should support the experience, not take priority over it. Understanding users, identifying their pain points, and designing solutions around their needs are just as important as creating visually appealing interfaces. Good design goes beyond making things look beautiful. It's about making them useful, intuitive, and accessible to the people they're meant for. I hope this helps.
