The Bug You Keep Ignoring Will Eventually Find You

5 replies 19 views

The Bug You Keep Ignoring Will Eventually Find You Sometimes you notice a small bug in your project and think: “I’ll fix it later.” Then you add another feature. Then another. Eventually, that small bug is connected to three other parts of the application and becomes much harder to fix. I’ve started seeing debugging differently. Not every bug needs to be fixed immediately, but bugs that affect core functionality shouldn’t be pushed aside just because the feature technically works. A clean feature isn't just one that works when everything goes right. It should also behave properly when things go wrong. What’s a small bug you ignored that later became a much bigger problem?

Totally get the “I’ll fix it later” vibe, but sometimes those small bugs sneak in and morph into real headaches. Do you think we sometimes ignore bugs because we get too attached to our features? Curious about how that plays out for others too!

I think so. Sometimes when we spend a lot of time building a feature, we focus more on making it work than stepping back to notice the small issues around it. Then those “I’ll fix it later” bugs pile up and become harder to deal with.

You're spot on, @abdulfatai. Those small bugs can turn into a slippery slope. I’ve been there too—getting attached to features often means ignoring the mess underneath. It's like letting a leaky roof go; eventually, it rains in. Keeping an eye on those bugs is key. How do you guys stay on top of it?
