Everyone wants a big win. We all want that moment when our hard work finally pays off, when a client reaches out, an opportunity comes through, or someone recognises the value of what we've been doing. But one thing we often overlook is what happens before that moment. The rejections, the unanswered messages, the applications that lead nowhere, the projects we put so much effort into without getting the results we expected. These experiences can be frustrating, especially when it feels like everyone else is making progress while you're still trying to figure things out. I've seen people gradually stop posting their work because they aren't getting clients. Some begin to doubt their skills, while others start wondering if they've chosen the right career path. Eventually, they become less visible, stop putting themselves out there, and withdraw from the very process that could have helped them grow. I understand how discouraging it can be. Nobody wants to keep putting in effort without seeing results. But I think it's important to remember that not every season of your journey will produce immediate rewards. Sometimes, the process is teaching you things you wouldn't have learned if everything had worked out the first time. A rejection might reveal something you need to improve. A project that doesn't convert into a client might teach you how to present your work better. Sharing your work consistently might help you develop your voice, build credibility, and connect with people who may not need your services today but could remember you when the right opportunity comes. This doesn't mean you should keep doing the same things and expect different results. Trusting the process also means paying attention to what's working, learning from what isn't, seeking feedback, improving your approach, and making the necessary adjustments. Don't let the absence of immediate results make you abandon the work you're capable of doing.
