I just discovered something that caught my attention while exploring AI-assisted frontend development. UI Skills — https://www.ui-skills.com/ It’s a skill library for design engineering that can be used with AI coding agents. At first, I thought, “Okay, another collection of frontend resources.” But the more I explored it, the more interesting it became. The idea isn't simply to give an AI agent more instructions to generate UI. It’s about giving the agent specialized skills for thinking about interface design. One thing immediately stood out to me: the focus on avoiding what I’ve started calling AI design slop. You know when an interface works, looks “modern,” and checks all the boxes... …but somehow feels like it came from the same AI template as everything else? That's what caught my attention. I'm still exploring the library, but I like the direction: Don't just generate a UI. Think about it. Critique it. Improve it. Make it specific to the product.
