I've built a lot of things that almost nobody has seen. I want to change that. For a while, most of my development journey has been simple: Learn something → build something → push it to GitHub → move on to the next thing. Useful for improving my skills, yes. But I'm beginning to realise that becoming a better developer isn't only about writing more code. It's also about putting your work out there, discussing your decisions, getting feedback, seeing how other developers approach problems, and actually building with people. That's one of the reasons I joined Africoders. I'm Joshua (Fijacks), a full-stack developer working mainly with Python, Django/DRF, React, TypeScript and PostgreSQL. I've worked on different web applications, but one project I'm particularly interested in improving is a smart attendance system I built using BLE proximity + acoustic verification to confirm that a student is actually present before attendance is recorded. There were quite a few interesting engineering problems behind it, especially around preventing someone from simply submitting attendance remotely. I'll probably share more about how I approached that here. For now, I'm here to build more publicly, meet other African developers, collaborate, share what I'm learning and learn from what everyone else is building. Curious about something though: What are you currently building, even if it's still unfinished?

I really like this mindset. Building is important, but putting your work out there and getting feedback can help you grow even more. I recently completed Finora, an AI-powered personal finance platform, and I’m currently exploring what to build next.
